Google Domains Review: 9 Reasons Why You Should Switch Today!
In this blog post, I’m going to give your 9 reasons why I consider the ‘Google Domains’ as the best domain name registrar!
Enter Google Domains: The Best Domain Name Registrar for 2018-2019
What Is Google Domains?
Google Domains is a simple to use, powerful and feature rich service powered by the Google brand and will satisfy all your domain name needs. I bought my first domain on this platform and I was thoroughly impressed with the ease and transparency of the process and I couldn’t wait to write this to share with you about the best domain Registrar in the world!
Google quietly launched its domain name registry (domains.google.com) service in 2014 and we have all been patiently waiting to see it grow and expand. It’s 2017 and domains.google.com has finally come of age.
Don’t Fall For The FREE Domain Name Offers!
Most website hosting services offer free domain name registration for FREE which can cost ₹860/yror above.
I do not recommend you take advantage of this free domain offer. If you want to know why check out this blog post where I explain in detail why you too should think about registering your domain name separately!
Reason #1: Easy Verification Across Google Services
Google has many services like Google Adwords, Google Page Insights, Google Analytics, Google Webmasters Tools etc, which we online business owners need.
In order to use these services, we need to verify our domain ownership with Google (often by injecting a piece of code into our website or some other way).
The advantage of registering your domain name with Google Domains is that it automatically verifies your account across all its services.
I didn’t realize how much time I spent on this step until Google did it automatically for me!
This is a very relevant and powerful advantage of Google Domains and you should know about it.
Reason #2: Easy Integration With Top Website Builders
Google offers seamless integration with top website builders such as Weebly, Squarespace, Shopify and even Wix.
Once you’ve got your domain you can quickly connect it to your DNS server on your hosting site through these integrations.
Google’s made it so easy and I am really impressed.
One of the reasons a lot of people choose to have their domain hosting and domain name register with the same service is to avoid the pain of linking the two.
Google, however, has made short work of this and made it all the easier to register your domain name separately from your hosting while still being able to connect the two easily. Good job Google!
Reason #3: Easy Domain Management (With Developers And Clients)
Google allows you to easily share your domain credentials with your developers or clients
If you’re a website developer who needs your clients to buy their domains, Google Domains Widget, allows customers to find, buy and connect a domain name without leaving your website.
They also won’t need to do complicated domain name setup and provisioning.
After they purchase a domain with just a few clicks using their Google account, Google automatically connects their domain DNS settings to your service.
Google also handle support for their connection, email, subdomains, and more, via email, chat, and phone.
Reason #4: Free Private Registration (Free WHOIS Mask)
WHOIS security or private registration is a feature which Google domains provides for FREE.
WHOIS security often costs upwards of $7usd with other domain name registrars whereas Google throws it in for FREE. YAY!
This service is free for all top-level domains except the following:
- .CO.IN
- .CO.NZ
- .CO.UK
- .IN
- .US
Reason #5: Free Unlimited Email Forwarding
Create up to 100 email aliases with your domain, such as help@yourdomain or sales@yourdomain, and have them forwarded to existing email accounts, like you@gmail.com..
Reason #6: Transparent Pricing
This is another great reason why I love Google Domains.
If you transfer your account to Google domains, it offers you the next year as free. But apart from that Google is very straightforward with its pricing. No discounts and sales, you pay what you see on the screen and it is always a really fair price.
Google offers its Top-Level Domains(TLD) like .com, .net, .org and other country-level TLD’S like .us, .uk, .in etc starting at $12 per year or ₹860 per year.
If you have ever been ripped off online, only then will you truly understand why fair and transparent pricing is a big deal.
Reason #7: Easy User Interface
I really appreciate Google’s simple and easy interface. No ads and no upsells.
The clean interface has all the links that you need within a thumbs distance.
I feel so pro whenever I log in!
Reason #8: Great Support
With Google Domains, you get to chat, phone, and email support (M-F, 6am to 9pm PST).
I’ve found that the reliability of a service is directly related to its support abilities and Google Domains has a robust support team who are trained well and able to answer all your questions very well!
I was really impressed with their knowledge and keenness to deliver a resolution to your query!
Fast, Secure, And Reliable Internet Infrastructure With Google
This is something that only Google can boast about. Every time you visit a website, your computer performs what’s called a “DNS lookup”. When you manage a domain with us, you get to use the same DNS servers as Google. This means your domain name will connect quickly and reliably to your website. We include 10 million resolutions per year for each domain you register with Google Domains. – Google
Reason #9: Several New TLD’s
You can find the full list of new TLD’s that Google Domains offers by clicking here.
Even though .com is the most widely recognized TLD’s, you can form creative domain names with extensions like .actor or .lawyer etc.
Google offers a lot of these new domains at affordable prices.
